Piero Tognolatti graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome, in 1981. From 1982 to 1984, he worked at the Research Division of Telespazio S.p.A., the Italian Satellite Communication company. From 1984 to 1992, he was a researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He moved to the University of L’Aquila, as an Associate Professor in Microwaves, in 1992, and became Full Professor in 2000. From 2007 to 2012 he served as Head of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department (DIEI) at the University of L’Aquila. His main scientific interests are numerical techniques for electromagnetic field computation, medical application of microwaves, interactions between electromagnetic fields and human body, signal-processing, electromagnetic compatibility, and design of passive microwave circuits including film bulk acoustic-wave resonators (FBAR). His interests also include software defined radio issues. He has consulted for Italian industries involved in Aerospace and Avionics. Antonio Orlandi was born in Milan, Italy, in 1963. He received the Laurea degree in electrical engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy, in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from the University “Campus Biomedico”, Rome, Italy, in 2012. He was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Rome “La Sapienza” from 1988 to 1990. Since 1990, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, where he is currently a Full Professor and Chair of the UAq EMC Laboratory. Author of more than 300 technical papers, he has published in the field of electromagnetic compatibility in lightning protection systems and power drive systems. His current research interests include the field of numerical methods and modeling techniques to approach signal/power integrity, EMC/EMI issues in high-speed digital systems. Dr. Orlandi received the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY Best Paper Award in 1997, IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ADVANCED PACKAGING Best Paper Award in 2011, the IEEE EMC Society Technical Achievement Award in 2003 and 2012, the IBM Shared University Research Award in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2012, the CST University Award in 2004, the IEEE International Symposium on EMC Best Paper Award in 2009, 2010, and 2013, the DESIGNCON Best Paper Award in 2011 and 2012 and the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY Best Paper Award Honorable Mention in 2015. He is the corecipient of the 2015 CISCO University Program Fund Award on “TSV modeling and measurement”. From 1996 to 2000, and from 2010 to December 2015, he has been an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY. Alessandro Di Carlofelice graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, in 2006, and earned a Ph.D in Microwave radiometry for remote sensing and bio-medical applications in 2011. In July 2006, he took part in the ESMO (European Student Moon Orbiter) program supported by ESA to design a microwave radiometer payload. In November 2006, he joined the EXOMARS program with Telespazio to perform detailed analysis and trade-off of the different communication scenario options for the ROCC (Rover Operation Control Center) in support of the rover mission operations. He tested hybrid subsystems (Transmitter in Ku-band) at Thales Alenia Spaces (Sept. 2007 – Dec. 2007). Since February 2011, he has joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information, University of L’Aquila, as a Postdoctorate Researcher. His research activity is in the field of space systems for telecommunications and remote sensing. Francesco de Paulis was born in L’Aquila, Italy in 1981. He received the Specialist degree (summa cum laude) in electronic engineering from University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, in 2006, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla), Rolla, MO, USA, in May 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and information engineering from the University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, in 2012. He was involved in the research activities with the UAq EMC Laboratory from August 2004 to August 2006, L’Aquila, Italy, and at the MST EMC Laboratory from August 2006 to May 2008, Rolla MO, USA. From June 2004 to June 2005, he had an internship at Selex Communications, L’Aquila, within the layout/SI/PI Design Group. He is currently a Research Assistant with the UAq EMC Laboratory, University of L’Aquila. Emidio Di Giampaolo received the Laurea degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in applied electromagnetics from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, in 1994 and 1998, respectively. From 1998 to 2004, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the University of L’Aquila. In 2000, he was a Visiting Researcher with the European Space Research and Technology Centre, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. From 2005 to 2009, he was a Researcher with the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Since 2010, he has been with the University of L’Aquila as an Assistant Professor.
